I swear, the fashion industry is attempting to empty my pockets by feeding my ombre obsession. Yesterday, Susie Bubble (from one of my favourite style blogs, StyleBubble… a definite MUST read) posted about Ostwald Helgason’s new AW08 collection. While I cant say no to the Christopher Kane/Jil Sanders-esque sheer confections, I found the beauty of the clothing to be somewhat eclipsed by the leg wear. I’m particularly obsessed with the tragically sexy dip-dye thigh-highs. (Note: I say tragically sexy because at 5′2″ there is absolutely no way I could wear such glorious legwear without looking short and stumpy. Lines cutting mid-thigh do not a tall girl make!) hts from Christian Lacroix´s SS couture collection. In all honesty though, I find Helgason’s version to be more appealing. It tastefully allows you
to show off a bit more leg with an ultra short mini, while at the same time giving the appearance of more coverage. Plus, the black-fade-to-nude effect seems more versatile (and less “oops-i-stepped-in-a-vat-of-dye”) than Lacroix’s technicolour edition. Still, my obsession with tights knows no bounds and I would gladly take colour or black & nude ombre thigh-highs…. if only I was 6″ taller *sigh*…
